Industry Insider
The talent landscape is shifting fast. Demand for emerging digital skills - AI/ML, cloud engineering, DevOps, and cybersecurity - is now outpacing traditional tech roles in India and globally. New-age roles like generative AI specialists and FinOps analysts are commanding 10 to 40% salary premiums, reflecting how scarce and business-critical these skills have become.
But hiring this talent isn’t easy. Average time-to-hire for AI and cybersecurity roles has stretched to 75–90 days in 2025. Even as startup hiring slowed to single-digit growth due to funding pressure, large enterprises and GCCs are aggressively absorbing niche specialists, tightening the market further.
Global players are also doubling down. OpenAI’s announcement of its first India office signals a serious local hiring push for advanced AI talent. At the same time, scaling Indian companies are investing earlier in people leadership, for instance, Sigachi Industries appointing a Chief People Officer during its growth phase
The message is clear: HR is no longer a back-office function. It’s a strategic lever.
What are recruiters doing differently?
Proactive sourcing: Generic job ads don’t work for niche roles. HR teams are increasingly using specialist sourcing platforms “digital headhunters” to identify precise skills, even among passive candidates. Tools like AmazingHiring, HireEZ and Spleen AI surface talent across GitHub, Stack Overflow, and research communities beyond LinkedIn.
High-signal JDs:
Good job descriptions today work for both systems and people. Clear role titles, specific outcomes, and an honest explanation of why this role matters attract candidates who actually want to do the work.
Hiring funnel audits:
Tracking drop-offs (screen-to-interview, offer acceptance)helps teams fix bottlenecks early - freeing time for the human moments no tool can replace.
